Vel tech university syllabus -MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY IN PROCESS CONTROL & INSTRUMENTATION

Veltech group of educational institutions was established in 1990 by a well known industrialist couple dedicated to public service. Dr.R.Rangarajan and Dr.R. Sakunthala Rangarajan, who by then had 30 years of experience in developing industries and international trade. What took off as a modest school now stands as a monument of glory for “Chennai city”. A student volume of above 12,000 throng the various educational institutions of VEL TECH group.

The recent introduction of new quality control policies and government of Indian Decision to introduce strict environmental control policies has insisted industries to go for modernised control and monitoring mechanisms. To cater this need of the industries the Academic Council of the University decided to introduce a 2 year PG course in Process Control & Instrumentation in association with Center for Development of Advanced Computing ( CDAC). Industries such as petrochemicals, paint, distilleries, power plants, lather and clothes, food processing are the industries which not only contribute to the growth of our GDP but also contributes to the increase in the environmental pollution. This is because of the unskilled human resource employed by these industries and the improper methodologies introduced by these employees. This course supplies the required trained man power that can design, develop and implements state of art automation and control technologies. To achieve this, the University deputes the students to various CDAC units for a minimum period of 2 semesters.

VEL Tech Engineering College was established in the Academic Year of 2002. VEL Tech Engineering is affiliated to Anna University. The college is approved by AICTE offering 4 year B.E./B.Tech Programmes in EEE, ECE, CSE, IT, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical & Bio-Tech, and also offers 2 year PG Programmes leading to conferment of MBA& MCA degrees. VEL Tech Engineering College is located in Tamil Nadu.

The demand for miniaturization of domestic and commercial products and with reduced cost has increased the requirement of personals specialised in micro electronics. The recent advancements in the western universities in the field of expert systems and robotics and the lack of courses of this kind in Indian Universities motivated our University to introduce a 2 year PG programme in Artificial Intelligence in association with Center for Development of Advanced Computing ( CDAC). Industries expecting the Universities to help them in developing modernised and unmanned production/maintenance/logging mechanisms which would be fool proof and reduced human error factor thus increasing the productivity and efficiency of the Industry. To achieve this, the University needs to emphasis and introduce new and developing areas of artificial intelligence and expert systems in the curriculum. The students will be made aware of the requirements, design, development, testing and implementation of machine intelligence. The students will be deputed to one of the CDAC facility which is currently involved in Research on Artificial Intelligence & Expert Systems. After the successful completion of the course, the students have the capability to create or work in the areas of expert and artificial intelligence.

Vel tech university syllabus -MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY IN COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING

Vel Tech has provided access to high quality multipurpose technical education without any barrier by instituting 7 Crore Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarships to ensure that the poor but meritorious are not denied such access.

The rapid growth of IT in non computer fields has increased the demand for professionals familiar on computer architecture, programming, hardware design, applications of computers in unorthodox areas such as computer based monitoring and control, data acquisition, Human-Machine interface, Machine- Machine Interface. This requires a curriculum which is multifaceted and multi disciplinary and which can satisfy the above requirements. Hence the University in association with Center for Development of Advanced Computing ( CDAC) announced a 2 year PG programme in CSE which specially concentrates on the earlier discussed areas and also emphasizing on Research and Development activities in Computer Engineering & Technology. Vel tech technological university- MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY IN MEASUREMENTS & CONTROL SPECIALISED IN FLOW MEASUREMENTS

Sakunthala Rangarajan, who by then had 30 years of experience in developing industries and international trade. What took off as a modest school now stands as a monument of glory for “Chennai city”. This two year M.Tech differs from the any traditional control/measurement courses in the specialisation, content & the delivery system. This course is offered in association with Fluid Control Research Institute (FCRI), a premier research institute under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Govt. of India. The students will be trained in advanced digital methodologies involved in measurements & control and in the second phase of the course the students will be trained specially on flow related controls and data acquisition systems. For the second phase of the course (third semester) the students will be deputed to FCRI which has the state of art facilities in Modern Digital Flow Measurements & Control. The students completing this course have the ability to design and develop systems for modern digital controls and hence have the potential to be on floor from day one.
