Veltech group of educational institutions was established in 1990 by a well known industrialist couple dedicated to public service. Dr.R.Rangarajan and Dr.R. Sakunthala Rangarajan, who by then had 30 years of experience in developing industries and international trade. What took off as a modest school now stands as a monument of glory for “Chennai city”. A student volume of above 12,000 throng the various educational institutions of VEL TECH group.
The recent advancements in the western universities in the field of expert systems and robotics and the lack of courses of this kind in Indian Universities motivated our University to introduce a 2 year PG programme in Artificial Intelligence in association with Center for Development of Advanced Computing ( CDAC). Industries expecting the Universities to help them in developing modernised and unmanned production/maintenance/logging mechanisms which would be fool proof and reduced human error factor thus increasing the productivity and efficiency of the Industry. To achieve this, the University needs to emphasis and introduce new and developing areas of artificial intelligence and expert systems in the curriculum. The students will be made aware of the requirements, design, development, testing and implementation of machine intelligence. The students will be deputed to one of the CDAC facility which is currently involved in Research on Artificial Intelligence & Expert Systems. After the successful completion of the course, the students have the capability to create or work in the areas of expert and artificial intelligence.
