Vel Tech is India first deemed University to set up telecom centre of excellence by ministry of communication. The CDEM - centre of excellence on design engineering and manufacturing is a new initiative of Vel Tech with DASSAULT systems, Germany on product life cycle mgmt software. The co Curriculum activities includes industry institute interaction with over 2500 industries and finally making student ready for 306 recruiters.
The introduction of metro trains and the Indian Governments new policy of connecting all tribal regions to the major cities in India raised the requirement of engineers specialised in trenchless technologies. Considering this the University decided to introduce a 2year PG course specialised in Sub Surface construction in Association with Construction Industry Development Council(CIDC) and Indian Society for Trenchless Technologies(IndSTT), a agency affiliated to Ministry of Urban Development. This course trains the students to learn and work on various trench less technologies through modernised mechanisms and also enables them to work with trained professionals on various metro sites across the country. The students will do their third semester in the CIDC facility and the project phase at one of the CIDC/IndSTT sites involving sub surface construction. This course supplies the required man power to the country to increase the traffic to mobility ratio by constructing tunnels sub surface roads and underground railway systems.
